A losing battle.

image

Within the confines

of  winter

deeply cold and bruising

that binds my bones

brittle and aching

and begs a huddled stillness

 a folding in

 shallow breaths and shivering contempt

for lack of a thicker skin.

The fight is over even before it begins.

I beg for mercy.
